Using the District Website: for Club Members
With the re-launch of the District 7040 website in the spring of 2008, a number of services have been mde available to clubs in the district.
- A club roster is now published on the District Website for members who are logged in.
- An Electronic Post Office has been set up so that members can email their club with an up to the minute list of current addresses.
- Any district 7040 Rotarian can now log-in on the district site to update their own profile, which will instantly update the club roster.
- The District Directory is now online, accessible only to logged in Rotarians.
- The documents section of the District site is now protected by the login system.
- Privacy is protected by limiting access to logged in members of the same club, and to District officers when they are logged in.
How to get Set Up
In order to access the site to view member-only information you need to register yourself on the district website. For that, your email address needs to be in the district database. If you’re not sure, try to register as shown below. If it doesn’t work, contact your club Secretary, President, President-Elect or eSecretary to have your email address put into your membership record. (For security and privacy reasons, no-one whose email address is not already in the database can register on the District website.)
To register, you can go to the site at www.rotary7040.com, click on the Login link, then click Register to Login. You’ll be prompted for your email and your preferred username. Once the system has confirmed that the email address is in the database (a security measure), it will send a temporary password to that address.
Once it is received, you log in on the website, select the Edit My Profile link and update your profile, including replacing the temporary password with something of your choosing.
When you’re logged in, you’ll notice that a new Members menu appears, containing links to areas of the website not accessible to the general public.
Club Data Editors (President, President-Elect, Secretary and eSecretary of one has been appointed) will see a Club Administration menu as well, which allows them to edit the Club Profile and membership records other than their own.
Editing your Member Profile
Once you are logged in, click on Edit My Profile in the Member’s menu. That will take you to your member profile.
Please fill it in as completely as possible. This information allows your club and the district to communicate with members as well as to understand membership trends which are important to ensure that our district continues to grow and that our projects prosper.
What are the Benefits to the Club
A number of features are provided on the district site, fed from the information stored in our database. Most of these are available only to logged in members. We worked hard to provide some valuable services for the clubs, we hope you find them useful.
- A Club Roster, which you can link to from your own club website (http://roster.rotary7040.com).
- Electronic Post Office, which you can also link to from your own club website (http://postoffice.rotary7040.com).
- District Directory
- Documents page
- Clubsites, a free website service for each club hosted on the District 7040 website.
- Event Publishing. Club events can be published on the district website, from which they will also appear in the Clubsites home page if the club uses the Clubsites facility.
