Important Information about Ambassadorial Scholarships
As you know, Rotary is in the process of converting to the Future Vision plan. The first year of that plan will be 2013-14 and the current indication is that the deadline for districts to submit their documentation will be January 2013. In addition. the scholarships program has been altered to award either district funded scholarships or global grant funded scholarships . This change will be opening up options that were not hitherto available.
Since D 7040 is not one of the Future Vision Districts, the District will need some additional time to determine the course of action that we will take for 2013-14 onwards. To this end, we will be postponing the application deadline to October 31 2012. Although RI has not indicated the exact date that application forms will be posted online, we anticipate that this will take place in late spring or early summer.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but on the up side, this will allow possible candidates a little more time to consider their options. I will send you the information re Future Vision Scholarships in D 7040 as soon as it becomes available.
With best Rotary regards,
Katie Burke

Rotary Peace Fellows
Rotary Peace Fellows are leaders promoting national and international cooperation, peace, and the successful resolution of conflict throughout their lives, in their careers, and through service activities. Fellows can earn either a master’s degree in international relations, public administration, sustainable development, peace studies, conflict resolution, or a related field, or a professional development certificate in peace and conflict resolution.
Fellows are chosen from countries and cultures around the globe based on their ability to have a significant, positive impact on world peace and conflict resolution during their careers. Learn more about program eligibility and deadlines .
District 7040 deadlines for Rotary Peace Fellowships
Rotary and District 7040 are seeking non-Rotarian professionals interested in expanding their knowledge in international relations, public administration, sustainable development, peace studies and conflict resolution or a related field. Each year, up to 100 Rotary Peace Fellowships (50 master's degree fellowships and 50 professional development certificate fellowships) are offered on a competitive basis at six prestigious Rotary Centers around the world.
Information for Rotarians and promotional material on Rotary Peace Fellowships is available on the RI website at www.rotary.org under Students and Youth - Educational Programs – Peace Fellowships. Application forms can be downloaded from the above website.

Interviews of all sponsored applicants will take place on Saturday May 26 2012 to select the successful candidate(s). The location of the interviews will be in a location that is convenient for the candidates and the interviewers. Candidates must be available in person for the interview although in unusual circumstances, an interview by SKYPE could be arranged with enough advance notice. Participants in the master's degree program gain access to:
