Up until this year the club has held an annual Canada Day street parade for kids followed by free birthday cake for the public. A public parade was not possible this July because of COVID-19 so instead club members put on their thinking hats and instead sponsored a kid’s poster contest and adult story contest with What It Means to Be Canadian as the theme. All entries were printed in the North Renfrew Times.
The Rotary Club of North Renfrew (Deep River) is only 14 years old and currently has fewer than 10 members. However, we are fortunate to have the staunch support of the local weekly community newspaper, North Renfrew Times, which has published scores of articles and photos publicising and highlighting club activities over the years.

At the same time, the club ran a contest for the most colourful and the most unique decorated front door in town on Canada Day. Photos of contest winners receiving their prizes from a Rotarian in front of their doors were taken and published the following week in the North Renfrew Times. Our club may continue these contests even when we return to our traditional Canada Day street parade again!
