Incoming Chair of the Learning and Development Committee David Carey's goals include expanding the committee's membership, broadening its services, and developing a comprehensive President-Elect Learning Seminar..
Dear Fellow Rotarians,
I am honored to announce that effective July 1st, I will have the privilege of serving as the Chair of the Rotary District 7040 Learning and Development Committee. First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Paul Elsley for his dedicated leadership and guidance in this role, as well as to the current committee members whose commitment and passion have been invaluable to our district.
As I embark on this journey, my primary goal is to foster a strong partnership with our new District Governor, Teresa Whitmore. Together, we aim to enhance learning opportunities and support systems that empower Rotarians across our district. Collaboration with District Governors is essential to our mission, and I look forward to working closely with Teresa and our future district governors Graeme Fraser and Barbara Fisk over the next three years to achieve our collective goals of service and community impact.
Accepting a leadership role within your club can feel overwhelming at times. It’s easy to get so caught up in the day to business that finding long term solutions to challenges can feel hopeless, but you are not alone.
Although no one person has all the answers, the learning and development committee members represent years of Rotary experience, and we exist to respond to the needs of Rotarians across the district.. We are dedicated to helping you find solutions, and I am confident that through leveraging our diverse expertise and working with us, you will be empowered to find solutions, achieve success and strengthen your impact.
One of my aspirations for the committee is to identify key individuals within our district who are eager to contribute to Rotary's mission of service above self, and invite them to join the committee. By expanding our committee membership, we will bring fresh perspectives and diverse expertise to the table. Furthermore, I am committed to broadening the scope of services offered by the committee to clubs throughout District 7040. This includes developing tailored learning programs, sharing best practices, and facilitating networking opportunities that strengthen our collective ability to make a difference in our communities.
Another key focus of our committee this year will be the development of the President-Elect Learning Seminar (PELS) for next year's incoming club presidents. We are committed to working closely with District Governor-Elect Graeme Fraser to create a seminar that is stimulating, informative, and designed to equip and empower President-Elects to succeed in their leadership roles. By providing comprehensive training and valuable resources, we aim to ensure that each President-Elect feels confident and prepared to lead their clubs with vision and effectiveness.
I am excited about the journey ahead and the opportunities to learn, grow, and serve alongside each of you. Together, we will continue to uphold Rotary's ideals and make a lasting impact in District 7040 and beyond.
Yours in Rotary Service,
David Carey
