As we converse or communicate in other ways in the world of Rotary, we hear and see many abbreviations. You can look up some of the meanings on the Acronyms page under the My District tab https://www.rotary7040.com/sitepage/rotary-acronyms.
New Executives
Your executive members for next year should be reported on the District website. You may find this document helpful How do I carry over a current year executive? Do this in the district site first. If your club is integrated with RI, and most are, you can check later to see that the executive does show up there How to manage club officers.

Rotary International (RI)changed its brand several years ago, however, not all Clubs or Districts are using the current branding. To encourage the use of the official RI brand in D7040, and hopefully have some fun while doing it, we are launching a Branding Competition.
The Chair of the D7040 Public Image Committee, David Humphries, District Governor Elect, Teresa Whitmore, Governor Nominee Graeme Fraser, and technical lead Chris Cochrane are issuing a challenge to all D7040 Clubs. They want to have ALL clubs in District 7040 using current RI branding.
To be entered into this competition, your Club’s Letterhead, print material, social media accounts and website must show the proper Rotary logo as shown at the top. The example above is for District 7040: you can create the correct logo for your Club by going to the Brand Center in My Rotary (rotary.org). Don’t have a MyRotary account? Set one up, it’s really easy - and you will find a wealth of Rotary related info and courses in MyRotary!
The first phase of the competition will run from November 15th, 2023, to January 15th, 2024, and will include social media, website, written promotional material and letterhead. The second phase will run until November 2024 and will include all banners, flags, tents, and bigger promotional materials.
How to enter
Starting November 15th, you will be able to submit letterhead, promotional material, social media links, and anything else which shows the current brand, to the Public Image Committee’s email account publicimage7040@gmail.com and our judging team will look at them.
RI President-elect Stephanie Urchick celebrates the magic of Rotary. She says members create that magic with every project completed, every dollar donated, and every new member of Rotary.
On the first Saturday in January, 8 Rotarians and 2 faculty members joined together for RLI – Part One in Cornwall. The 6-session day was enjoyed by all with some noting what they had learned – and these were all ‘seasoned’ Rotarians! It’s always interesting to see the moments of clarity and ‘Ah-hah’ on topics such as our Foundation and Membership. Vocational Service, our oft-neglected Avenue of Service evoked many ideas to bring this back into action in clubs to especially benefit our young people.
Part 3 will be offered in April by invitation only. Another Part 1 can be offered near the end of this Rotary or over the summer – whenever it’s best for up to 15 Rotarians at a time. Contact RLI Registrar for our District, PDGBonnie at bonnie.black@rotary7040.com.
Our D7040 International Service Committee and our Foundation Committee will be meeting on Saturday, March 2nd at the Seaway Valley Theatre in Cornwall at 9am. We will be hearing a report on the Columbia Project Fair which will bring ideas for projects your club can get involved with in 24-25. Remember, it’s important that your officers and appropriate committee chairs take the online training within the next 60 days. Please check our District site under Foundation>Grants to understand the modules in the Learning Center at rotary.org needed to complete as well as our own District-specific modules. Get it done today and then get inspired by our fellow Ro0tarians returning from South America with many choices on how we can do good in the world next rotary year!
