In our recent Learning and Development session, many of you mentioned the importance of broadening your club's social media presence beyond Facebook. While Facebook remains a valuable tool, diversifying onto other platforms can help you engage different demographics and expand your reach. Click here for a brief overview of some popular platforms and the primary demographic groups that use them.

1. Instagram
   - Demographic: Predominantly younger audiences, with a strong presence among users aged 18-34. However, it's growing in popularity among older users as well.
   - Best For: Sharing visually engaging content such as photos, videos, and stories. Great for showcasing club events, community service projects, and member highlights.
2. LinkedIn
   - Demographic: Professionals across all age groups, especially those aged 30-49. LinkedIn is widely used for networking and professional development.
   - Best For: Connecting with local businesses, recruiting new members, and promoting professional events or speaker sessions.
3. X, formerly know as Twitter
   - Demographic: Broad, with users spanning all age groups. However, it tends to attract a slightly younger and more tech-savvy audience.
   - Best For: Sharing timely updates, live-tweeting events, and engaging in conversations about relevant community topics. Twitter is also useful for connecting with local media.
4. TikTok
   - Demographic: Extremely popular among Gen Z (ages 10-25), but also attracting millennials and even older users.
   - Best For: Creating short, engaging videos that highlight the fun, community-focused side of your club. TikTok is ideal for showcasing events, challenges, or behind-the-scenes glimpses of club activities.
5. YouTube
   - Demographic: Wide-ranging, with significant usage across all age groups. However, it's especially popular among millennials and younger Gen Xers.
   - Best For: Sharing longer-form video content, such as interviews, event recaps, and educational materials. YouTube can serve as an archive for your club's video content.

By tapping into these platforms, your club can reach a broader audience and engage with members in new and dynamic ways. Consider which platforms align best with your club's goals and the demographic you aim to connect with. Expanding your social media presence is an excellent way to showcase the impact of Rotary in your community. Our club (Rotary Club of Kanata) has seen great increases in engagement thanks to the utilization of these platforms on a scheduled and consistent timeline.
